Fifteen startups have been officially selected to participate in 'BiiG Wave,' an investment attraction platform based on the Incheon BiiG Wave Mother Fund, the first of its kind in the nation, established by Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (ICCE).
ICCE, the operating institution for BiiG Wave, announced on the 4th that it has selected 15 startups with high growth potential after a month-long evaluation of over 300 startups from across the country that applied for the program.
Now in its fourth year, BiiG Wave plans to support not only domestic investment attraction but also global scale-up to provide continuous support for startups. The Incheon Center is launching the new 'BiiG Wave Global' to activate its overseas market expansion projects. The plan is to focus on discovering business opportunities and achieving investment results in the Asia-Pacific region, which is most preferred by domestic startups.
The 15 selected companies include five from the bio sector, such as 'Osteobionix,' which creates biocompatible implants by applying nano-laser surface treatment to HA implants, and ten from the deep-tech sector, including 'Deep Plant,' which provides meat quality prediction and processing solutions through artificial intelligence (AI) analysis of meat data, and 'Interact,' a developer of a no-code XR content creation engine.
Notably, the Incheon Center selected promising startups from various fields including big data, bio, fintech, and XR solutions. This year saw the highest number of applicants since the program's inception, with over 300 companies applying, resulting in a competition ratio of over 20 to 1.
The companies selected for this program will receive support from the Incheon Center starting on the 12th, including: ▲corporate diagnostic mentoring, ▲investment competency enhancement programs, ▲BiiG Wave IR and networking, ▲media day (for PR and marketing), and ▲connections to direct and indirect investment opportunities.
Center Director Lee Han-seop stated, "Now in its fourth year, the BiiG Wave program has grown into one of Korea's leading investment attraction platforms. We will actively utilize the domestic and international networks that the Incheon Center has built to support our startups in showcasing their capabilities on the global stage through global IR, private IR, and other initiatives."
