Gyeonggi Assembly Member Myung Jae-sung Envisions 'Goyang-type Industrial Model' Linking Climate Tech and Agri-livestock

Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Member Myung Jae-sung (Democratic Party, Goyang 5) met with Kim Cheol-beom, CEO of the climate tech company Deep.Plant Inc., for a policy discussion at the 'Haengju Hanwoo Charcoal Grill Festival' held on Saturday, June 7th. They discussed strategies and cooperation for nurturing local industries in response to the climate crisis.

During the meeting, Assemblyman Myung emphasized, "Deep.Plant is an outstanding company selected for Gyeonggi Province's 2024 program for nurturing promising climate tech enterprises. It must go beyond simple carbon reduction technology and lead changes in the local economy through practical connections with the agriculture, livestock, and lifestyle sectors."

CEO Kim Cheol-beom stated, "For the climate tech industry to grow sustainably in the region, it needs the support of policy incentives. It is crucial to create a food-centric industrial cluster by linking with the agri-livestock sector." He added, "Through this, a 'Goyang-type Industrial Model' that merges the climate tech and food industries is possible."

In response, Assemblyman Myung said, "Gyeonggi Province has the regional strengths to connect climate tech with the agri-livestock industry, and Goyang City, in particular, is well-equipped with these conditions." He added, "Climate tech companies and the local community must work together to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem."

This meeting was arranged for the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly to assess the on-the-ground feasibility of local climate industry policies and to formulate future support measures. Assemblyman Myung announced plans to continue meeting with other climate tech companies in Goyang, as well as to hold consultations with stakeholders in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
